Detroit Police Detective Russ Baker is in charge of the Cold Cases and with his ghostly friend and partner, Wes Loomis, they have to solve murders to be able to send the victim’s spirits to the hereafter. Russ is given a case by his girlfriend Mary, who transfers from Missing Persons to work with Russ. Together they go out to find a missing boy who’s mother was murdered by his abductor. Wes is on the job tracking down leads but even he runs into problems. Too many leads that all end up blocked by criminals just ahead of them. Will they find the boy and his real mother? Is a TV preacher part of the crime? Will Wes turn his ghost friends loose on the killer? Murder, mayhem, humor, ghosts galore, and lots of fun are in store in this paranormal ghost crime story by Bob Moats. This book is a novella.

What an amazing premise...the ghosts of the murdered, coming back to help a cold case detective solve their murders. Great side effect? Our detective finds redemption in more ways than one. The dark humor is perfectly placed, and our hero is flawed in a very real way. I went into this thinking it was an interesting concept but not completely sold on the idea. Although, I really enjoyed the humor in this book. Nothing like having an annoying partner that is always around. You never know when he's going to pop in. Especially since he's a ghost. I couldn't put the book down. I never would have thought that I would enjoy a paranormal ghost crime story. This was a fun and humorous, quick read. I hope to see more from Russ and Wes. - Lisa Keller

I love the Genre with the Ghost Squad solving cold case Murders, I particularly enjoyed that awaiting ghosts need cases solved to move along in the nether world. It looks Like Bob Moats has found an interesting concept in Mystery Writing that will peak the interest of readers looking for a change of Pace. The characters become developed as the story progresses and relationships build leading very interesting exchanges between the lead and his wispy side kick. Things progress at a very satisfying rate with cases solved and deceased moving along in the hereafter. I believe this will be a hit among the readers. The police Procedural is spot on and lend credence to the story as it progresses. Russ and Wes make a great team and my hope is to read more adventures bring resolution to interesting cold cases. What a delightful second book in the series! I have fallen in love with Wes, even though he is a ghost. We can easily call this unrequited love, but I have it, anyway. Besides, Detective Russ Baker has Mary. He doesn’t need me. Russ is a tough character, but you kind of have to be in order to solve these murders. Mary seems to smooth out his rough edges, but he’s still tough!Mary is also a cop, transferring down from Missing Persons to Cold Case, and she brings with her a difficult one to solve, even for Wes. But Wes, dang it, is a fantastic guy…err…ghost and he goes out of his way to find the ghost of the missing victim and her living son.
Challenges abound in this case. What to do with the boy when they find him? WILL they find him? How many wrong ways can you go before the criminals win? It can be frustrating to say the least. And what about that overlyimpressedwithhimself television evangelist? He almost makes Robert Schuller look like a simple ornament in his Crystal Palace.
Where the heck is the mother’s ghost? She couldn’t be far since the case is unresolved. Wes and his friends are truly ghosts on the loose. Detective Baker and Mary might have a little trouble reining them in. Or not. See for yourself.
I want this series to go on for a long time. While Bob does well with murder, anyway, this particular ghost-oriented series has endeared itself to me. I’m waiting (imjpatiently) for Ghost Squad 3!

Ghost Squad rules! These people are funny, down to earth, and a little bit crazy. I really enjoyed the plot, it had lots of twists and turns, and kept me guessing to the end.
I read book one and had to get book 2. Now that i finished book 2 book 3 is next. wow. love this series.
A ghost detective that has a mandate to find the killers of other ghosts. The book are really short, but that is a plus.
Enjoyed reading this book has a little crime and punishment and ghosts too . On to the next one )
Mr. Moats has done it again!! He has created a new world with new characters that kept me reading until I found out who killed the victim (s). Love the fact that Wes may be a ghost, but he is such a loveable character, that he seems real.
Can't wait to finish the rest of the series. Thank you, Mr. Moats for bringing this characters, and their world, to life.

Such a Wonderful Book! Even if you don't believe in ghosts. The banter between Russ and Wes and now Mary is Fantastic. Could not put it down and finished it and after reading the beginning of Book 3, all I can say is More Please. Bob Moats has done it again in Creative Style.
These books should be directed to a 10 year-old audience. They are really very silly, but still cute. It's a good plot. If the characters were fleshed out and some reality was added, I think this author could have a good book. I read all the time and haven't seen anything based on this premise. Try again Mr. Moats. With work you could have something.
