Worth Ambition is a substantial (more than 300 pages) novel of romantic suspense and danger set in the high Sierras and the beaches and deserts of Southern California. The story centers around two women who seem to be as different as night and day, but they soon discover that they have a lot more in common than they thought.
...
It was the beginning of what promised to be a perfect day. From up here, the full moon was still clearly visible, just dipping toward the far horizon above a sea of cloudy fog broken by island mountaintops. Behind us, we can sense the distant warmth of the sun behind the mountain range beneath and around us, rising above New York, the Missisippi, the western desert, and then the arid eastern slopes of the Sierras as we spin into its brilliant light and the long night ends.
Soon, the sun will burn the clouds away; soon, but not quite yet...

I've only recently started reading murder mysteries, but if this novel is any indication, I will be reading a lot more. Interesting characters, snappy dialogue and a victim everyone (both readers and characters) wanted dead made for a fun ride. While the murder was wrapped up rather quickly, the developing relationship between the two protagonists, along with some very interesting political discussions made it well worth reading. I hope to see more from Sarah and Diana, wherever they might pop up, solving another murder.Product details

Worth Ambition edition by LeeAnne Phillips Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
A tale of how are the mighty fallen, industrialist Charles Edward Leichter, an archetypal villain who enjoys squishing mosquitoes and women comes to a sticky end. Sarah Greene is set up as the patsy and only her new friend computer consultant Diane Morgan believes in her innocence. They set out to solve the crime risking life and limb to do so, with some nice touches of escapology thrown in.
Although very different, the two women, are brought together to prove Sarah's innocence and become more than just good friends in the doing of it; proving her innocence in another area while they're at it.
It was hard getting into this book. The characters tend to speak in long diatribes that do not sound like natural conversations. Each paragraph is much much too long and I would find myself completely distracted half way through. The characters came off as unlikeable right off the bat, mostly because their conversations seemed so pretentious. I didn't get into the romance at all and by the time feelings were discovered, I did not buy it at all.
