When the last thing you want, is everything you need….

Seb Calloway isn’t interested in shifters. After his best friend bonded with one, he avoids getting involved with them—no matter how hot they are—to prevent the same thing from happening to him. Why take the risk for a few hours of fun?

Tim Walters is the pack doctor. Considered to be mild-mannered and non-threatening by pack standards, he prides himself on being able to stay calm and maintain his control at all times. Desperate for a bond of his own, he knows his interest in Seb is an exercise in futility, but he can’t seem to help himself.

When news emerges that threatens Seb’s safety, he and Tim need to fake a relationship to keep Seb safe. Despite Seb’s refusal to be anything other than friends with benefits, what starts out as pretend, quickly becomes more—for Tim at least. If Tim doesn't want to end up heartbroken, he needs to prove to Seb that loving a shifter doesn’t mean losing himself.

Yes, surprised, in a good way, and I'll explain why. Mostly for two reasons. First, the series I read before this one (by a different author) left me disappointed because every book in the series was pretty much the same story but with different characters. I didn't feel that way at all about this book. If Tim had the same personality as Nathan then I probably would have stopped reading this book early on. This story felt different from the first in several ways and I found that refreshing.

The second thing is that, at the end of the first book, I hadn't grown attached to either Seb or Tim. I had a liking for many other characters like Luke, Gareth, Cam, and even Alec, but both Seb and Tim were just blah to me. So I was prepared to just get through this book to get on to the next with characters I was already attached to. However, the author had my heart breaking for Tim fairly close to the start and suddenly I was invested. My heart broke for Tim several times in this story, at one point I used so many tissues I had to go rub lotion on my nose. I love it when a story pulls at my emotions like that.

So, surprised, but in a good way. Also, I'd like to add that it's so hard these days to find a good shifter romance that isn't mpreg, and mpreg is just not my thing. I guess I'm picky when it comes to the m/m genre. So thank you to the author for a well written shifter series that doesn't involve mpreg.

I enjoyed this book and I can't wait to go on to the next!

Bitten By Design Regent Park Pack Book 2 edition by Annabelle Jacobs Romance eBooks Reviews

This one picks up where the first book in the series left off and this time, we get Seb and the sexy pack doctor, Tim. This second book is a bit more of a slow burn in the romance department, but there is definite chemistry and these two are hot, hot, hot together. We get more about bonding among shifters and I really like the author's take on it and how it all works. There's also a bit of danger, which forces Seb and Tim into a fake relationship, and of course, we all know how those turn out. The fake romance trope has been a little overdone lately, but the story is fresh and that added bit of danger spices things up. My issue with this one is Seb. I didn't care much for him in the first book, but considering his response to Tim in the first book, I really hoped for a lighter side of him here. Instead, he's rather hard to like and even harder to root for as he continuously shows what a jerk he can be. For a lot of this one, I wanted to shake the frustrating Seb until his teeth rattled. And Tim, I absolutely loved Tim, but at the same time, I kept thinking he needed to man up and stop being such a doormat with Seb. Things do eventually come together, and I did start to root for this pair's happiness, but for me it was a little too long getting there. However, the danger and suspense were good, and I'll be interested to see where that goes in the next book.
I was counting the days until this baby hit my kindle and when it did, everything else was pushed to the backseat. My book world stopped when this one released. When it left me on the same high the first book did, I knew I was going to be in for a trial of patience until book three. I am absolutely hooked on this pack! I could hardly contain my excitement as I read and I’m dying for more. Jacobs seems to bring out this insatiable hunger in me, I just can’t get enough.

I fell for Tim pretty quickly but knew it was going to take a little more work for Seb to win me over. He puts up a good fight. Which is actually his intention. He doesn’t really like shifters to begin with. He doesn’t understand what happened to his bestie, Jared. But whatever freaky shifter magic turned his best friend into a bonded mate to a shifter scares him. He believes it is safer to keep them at a distance. But then he has an accident and needs looking after. Who better to do the job than the pack doctor! Why does he have to be so nice and sexy though? That’s a dangerous combination and when Tim is almost nothing like the shifter stereotype Seb despises, he wonders if perhaps he was quick and harsh to judge them. Maybe all shifters aren’t the same? Still…the one thing he knows for sure is he doesn’t want to be with one. Just because he likes Tim and Tim is different, that doesn’t mean anything. Right? Hmmmm, we shall see.

What's to like The pack is back! We have plenty of Jared and Nathan, which made me a very happy reader, but we also get to know a few other pack members a bit closer. Some new faces are introduced and I enjoyed them all. Tim has a different beta than Nathan and though we saw him in the first book, his first impression isn’t the greatest. Alec is not perceived as warm or friendly, but that is through Nathan’s eyes. They have a history that I wish to unravel. I enjoyed seeing him with his defenses down around Tim. He’s hiding something and I want to know about it! Of course I loved Cam and was fascinated with how he runs his pack. Overall, it’s deeply developed but not overcomplicated.

What's to love The connection is not instantaneous and rather lopsided, that is until eyes and hearts are opened. Sometimes it’s nice to have to hurdle obstacles to bring two hearts together. Tim wants Seb from the very beginning. He wants to take care of him but his instincts scream for him to tend to needs beyond the call of a doctor. He wants Seb. However, he respects Seb’s wishes, and repeated declaration that he does not wish to allow emotions to develop between the two of them. Whatever they need to do, they can do it as friends and Tim is adamant he can withstand the temptation of more. Then Seb becomes frustrated with his own rules and demands. He likes Tim. Tim likes him. Why can’t they play a little? It’s not all or nothing. Wait? Is it? No, if that’s the case, it must be nothing. He has plans for his future and it does not involve wolves. Then the rogue pack threatens his single weakness and it’s time for him to reevaluate his life choices. This time the bite is not an accident but the question is, who will deliver it?

Beware of A stubborn and insensitive human lets his mouth overrun his arse. Even cute arses need to watch their tongue and manners. If Tim can forgive, then so can I. However, I imagine you will be a tid bit irked with our boy Seb as well.

This book is for Paranormal lovers should definitely take note of this series if they haven’t yet. Start at the beginning though, it’s not a standalone.
